What does the StarOffice Server - PDF Converter appliance cost?

The StarOffice Server - PDF Converter Appliance consists of two parts: StarOffice PDF Converter and the software extensions. If you access the StarOffice PDF Converter via the integrated portal or access the converter as a web service directly out of one of your own applications, there is no need to use the “extensions”.

Generally there are two versions of the product StarOffice Server - PDF Converter Appliance:
  • the extranet portal or
  • the internet portal
Both versions provide a package which include all required software to use the converter. The package contains StarOffice Server with an integrated Apache TomCat server, a web service (as a WAR file) and the Java SDK (all together in a single installation routine). Alternatively you can use an existing J2EE server and deploy the web service (WAR file) there.

One package allows the installation of the StarOffice Server - PDF Converter on a single server. In order to install a second server, you have to purchase a further package.

Extranet- or internet-portal
Both versions allow you to run two instances (parallel conversion tasks) and to utilize the web service (e.g. based on the portal application provided). This also includes the usage as a part of your own proprietary application development. You can add further instances at any time to boost performance.

The difference between the two versions is as follows:
  • The “extranet portal” version is a license for use within a company network.


  • The “internet portal” allows the use of the license on the internet or as a service within a chargeable extranet, for example on the basis of a public company website, by Application Service Providers (ASP) or electronic data processing centers.

What do the software extensions cost?
In addition to the StarOffice Server - PDF Converter you can purchase the “extensions” as an unlimited, company license:
  • StarOffice PDF Converter Extensions – for the access out of Windows Explorer, MS-Office and Notes Client: 2.500,- Euro
How is StarOffice Server - PDF Converter physically licensed for a server?
Server licensing is always a “per server license” (see the license agreement in program group for details). It does not matter how many users are connected to the server or how many applications are used on the server.
