How can the appliance be integrated? The StarOffice Server - PDF Converter Appliance contains a web portal, as the most basic configuration. This portal enables the access to the Appliance via a web browser. In addition, the appliance can be integrated into any existing portal or application which is capable of communicating with a web service. Additional software packages give you the possibility to integrate the appliance into existing applications and to make it as easy as possible for end-users to use. The following ways of integration (the extensions) are available: Shell Extension - Windows Explorer This extension for Windows provides the PDF conversion functionality by means of a simple, single right-click on the file. In addition you are able to send the file via email (MAPI client) and/or to compress it to a ZIP file. The user can set the PDF options, if desired. Office Extension - Microsoft Office Integration Due to the direct integration into Office, any active, open file can be converted to the PDF out of any MS-Office application by a single click. There is no easier way! Notes Extension - Lotus Notes Client Integration An integration into the menu of Lotus Notes Client enables the direct conversion of attachments (of an email or any other Notes Document) to the PDF. Important: All extensions can be used in the local network, but also enable the conversion of files via e.g. the internet. Thus the file conversion is also possible via a computer which is only connected to the appliance through the internet. |
